the country as well as here in New England. There are day
camps around the Boston area and overnight camps that last
for one week, three weeks, four weeks, six weeks or eight
weeks! Some are REALLY competitive and others more laid
back. Some include young children, some are for serious,
advanced musicians who are college age and older and some are for adults. For ADULTS??Yes, there are music camps for you too!!! No matter what your level (yes, even beginners!). Since 1986 the Spencer Brook Music Festival in Concord, MA, has offered music students a fantastic week of making music in an atmosphere of fun and friendship. Participants - elementary through high school age - play in small chamber music groups and also in orchestra, practice in technique workshops, get individual coaching, and enjoy student and faculty performances. After lunch there is recreation - soccer, Frisbee, and informal chamber music and coaching until 2:15. |
Welcome to the Weston Drama Workshop! The Weston Drama Workshop is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop an interest in and foster an appreciation of the performing arts. Young people gather for five or six intense weeks in July to mount a variety of shows, from large cast musicals to intimate plays for a dozen actors, whether in the productions themselves or helping in the technical crew. Middle school students participate in a Morning Program that runs from 9 AM to 1 PM. Students of high school and college age rehearse in the evening hours. All students interested in the technical production aspects of a show can become involved in our Tech Program. |

New England Music Camp in Sidney, Maine (near Waterville) has been around since 1937 and has fostered many of our great musicians (BSO players and others!). It has a wonderful combination of intense musical study with a laid-back approach of rotating first chair seating and insisting that all campers take part in afternoon swimming, boating & other activities. Summer Music Festival at Thayer Performing Arts Center This week-long Summer Music Festival at the Thayer Performing Arts Center (Atlantic Union College) in Lancaster, Massachusetts is a non-competitive but intensive chamber music program for string players and pianists age 12 and up (woodwind players and pianists with chamber music experience are also invited to apply). There is also an adult Chamber Music session and a Choral Arts session. |
Belvoir Terrace is a Fine and Performing Arts camp for girls from 9-17, in Lenox, MA. The camp is one seven week session and is very intensive study in the arts, but available to girls of all skill levels. |

Greenwood Music Camp is a small chamber music camp in Cummington, Massachusetts.There are two sessions. The senior session runs for five weeks and most campers are in high school, but a very few are in middle school. The junior session runs for two weeks and takes campers up to age 13. Campers younger than 10 are pretty rare. |
Point Counterpoint is a Chamber Music Camp for violin, viola, cello and piano on Lake Dunmore, Vermont, this camp provides chamber music opportunities for 50 students, ages 11-17, in 3, 4 & 7 week sessions. |

Winchester Community Music School Summer at WCMS offers something for everyone, ages four to adult. Our historic tudor-style "home for music" provides a beautiful day-camp setting with a big backyard for yoga, games, and drumming. The two-week WCMS Chamber Music Festival includes participation in two different small chamber ensembles as well as chamber orchestra, music theory/appreciation, three private lessons, and master classes. The Chautauqua Institution in Western New York State runs an arts program (music, visual arts, dance & theatre) for SERIOUS music students. I believe, but I am not positive, that it is from ages 17-22 and you must be enrolled in a college arts program. The Nelson Summer Songfest is a 2 week long Festival Concert Series and Educational Programme for solo singers, choral singers and pianists, held annually in Nelson, British Columbia during the last two weeks of August. Study with internationally renowned faculty in the spectacular setting of the West Kootenays. Choral programmes available for children, youth and adults, and solo voice and piano collaboration programmes available for advanced, pre-professional singers ages 18 and up. |
The National Guitar Workshop is a place for SERIOUS guitarists of all ages (most seem to be in the 15-22 year old range). Three of our middle school students attended last year & the week received rave reviews. |
Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory, a festival which takes place in Steamboat Springs, CO from mid-June through early August, is selective, but it's unique atmosphere is not highly competetive. We have violin, viola, cello, and harp students ranging from age 10-22 in the three divisions. In addition to chamber music, private lessons, and individual practice, which form the core curriculum, there is also opportunity to take interdisciplinary classes such as Tae Kwon Do and photography, and numerous outdoor activities. |

With unprecedented individual attention due to the low student to faculty ratio of 3:1, students receive two private lessons per week in addition to chamber music, orchestra, studio/performance classes, recitals, history lecture series, master classes, optional secondary instrument lessons, and concerto competition opportunity. Waterville Valley Music Center -- The Waterville Valley Music Center was established in 1996 to bring music to the Valley. We offer classical music at its highest level and provide cultural enrichment to the White Mountains' residents and visitors.
