Here are some links to schools of music and fine arts. Contact me if you have a link that I should add -- this page was created for our Wayland, Massachusetts students & doesn't even begin to be a comprehensive list of all of the excellent music schools in the country or in the world!

Eastman School of Music - one of the top music schools in the country and connected to University of Rochester. This site has many interesting links as well as info about Eastman School of Music.

Berklee College of Music is one of the tops in jazz education, and right here in Boston! They also have a great music education program for prospective teachers-to-be.

NEC is right here in our back yard! Many of you study there & play in their student groups. Keep an eye on their concert schedule & enjoy some classy performances.

The Hartt School (part of the University of Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut) is recognized internationally for the quality of its educational programs in music, dance, and theatre.

Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio is one of the countries best. We have a number of students from Wayland who are enjoying being at Oberlin College and being part of the music dept.

Boston Conservatory is another great school here in our neighborhood. They have great programs in music, dance & theater.


Juilliard is a school of fine arts in New York City. Again, one of the finest in the country!


The Hartford (Connecticut) Conservatory offers a two year diploma (immersion) program in Music, Dance and Recording Arts.

Boston University School for the Arts has ties to Tanglewood and many of the BSO players teach there -- excellent programs.

Northwestern University near Chicago (Evanston, Illinois) has a fine music program.

Gordon College in Wenham, has a very strong music program for such a small college. The Gordon College Music Department enrolls about 100 music majors and approximately 350 students from the 1,500 -member student population participate in the department-sponsored ensembles.

Although Regis College in Weston doesn't offer a music major, you can minor in music; they have excellent programs and a wonderful fine arts center.

Right here at home, the University of Massachusetts has a fine music program at both the Amherst campus and at Lowell campus.

Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, MA, has a fine music education program with excellent instructors.

Michigan State University is my alma mater and has a terrific music program available to both music majors and students in other schools.

Well, I hate to admit it because the University of Michigan is such a big rival of Michigan State, but they really do have a superb music and arts program -- hard to beat.

Ohio State University is another of the Big Ten universities. They all have fine music programs.

University of Texas (at Austin) School of Music. No bias here, but my brother was the orchestra director - must be a good school! But seriously, the UT school of Music is a large and comprehensive music school offering world-class study opportunities in music performance, scholarship and education.

UConn, the University of Connecticut, has a superb music program, well worth looking into.

The University of New Hampshire, Durham, is another New England College with an excellent Music Program.

The University of Maine has excellent music programs at both its Gorham University of Southern Maine campus and at the main University of Maine campus in Orono
