SUPPLIES PRICE LIST

Music Supplies

Mr. Andruchow comes out to the Wayland Middle School every week (usually Thursdays). If you need some supplies, the easiest way to get what you want is to call the music store and tell them what you need and that you would like it delivered to Wayland Middle School. They will tell you how much it will cost. You put the correct amount of money in an envelope, label it with your name and what you ordered and make sure the envelope and money gets to Ms Muffitt BEFORE 9:00 Thursday morning.

K & C is not the only music store carrying the supplies that you need. This list is only for your convenience. Feel free to call Ms Muffitt if you would like to talk about large purchases or other music stores in the area.(List of other local music stores) Beware of stores that sell mostly guitars, drums, etc. - I have often found that they do not have staff who really know, and have given out incorrect information and equipment on wind instruments).

Buying a new instrument??

(Exciting moment!) The School Band & Orchestra Magazine has created a website with information that might be useful to you when embarking upon the fairly difficult task of purchasing a new instrument. http://www.sbomagazine.com/howtobuy.html  -- PLEASE beware of instruments that have a cheaper sticker price -- they look great, but there is a reason that they don't cost as much, and usually they have major wear problems very quickly. Ask a private teacher or your band director about the brand you are considering. Don't just buy off the shelf! I would say never buy from a discount store, and I would be cautious about buying from a store that seems to deal primarily in guitars, keyboards, drumset, etc. I have found that even though they look like they have a band/orchestra instrument department, they often don't have people who really know the instruments.

Your best bet is to work through a private teacher who can be most knowledgeable about advising you of what is best for your child. If your child is not taking lessons, do check in with the band director before making purchases.

ADVANCED INSTRUMENTS: Advanced players need better quality instruments. I would go to Leonard Music here in Wayland http://www.leonardsmusic.com/, or Rayburn Music in Boston for the woodwinds, and Osmun Music in Arlington for the brass instruments.

List of other local music stores

REPAIRS:

If you call in advance, you can usually get a "loaner" instrument to use while yours is being repaired. Most repairs take one week. Mr. Andruchow will call you to tell you how much the repair will be. Please bring the check to Ms Muffitt before 9:00 AM on the day your instrument is to be returned. If I do not have the check, Mr. Andruchow will not leave the instrument. Do not leave instruments in the office; bring them to the band room and give them to Ms Muffitt or put them on the table with a note.
