LOCKERS

INSTRUMENT LOCKERS

In general, it is not a wise idea to leave you instrument in your homeroom or other unlocked areas in the school. In past years we have had some instruments stolen and some severe damage done to a student's instrument. (It's sad, but true, that not everyone is caring about other people.)

Instruments left in the halls near lockers are particularly vulnerable. Sometimes it's just curiosity and accidental damage, but damage none the less. Please put your instrument in a safe place! During the day, students may leave instruments on the shelves in the cafeteria, but they should not be left there over night; outside groups do use our building.

We have instrument lockers available to band and orchestra students on a first come, first served basis. The music department has a few (very few) locks to loan out, but your best bet is to get one of your own. (If you need one of our locks, bring a $2.00 deposit. Your deposit will be refunded when you turn in the lock.)

We have more students and instruments than available lockers. Students who wish a permanent lock and locker, please sign up early. Students without lockers may use any open locker or designated shelves or space, but please take instruments home after school and do not leave them here overnight. And... DO NOT LEAVE THEM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOOR!!!!! (thanks...)

To reserve an instrument locker, bring in your lock and see Ms. Muffitt. She will show you which lockers are available for your instrument and copy down your combination. If you bring a lock with a key, please bring an extra key which may be left in my cabinet. We ask for the combination or extra key in case you forget yours or for some reason we need to get into your locker (illness, etc.). No one but the music department teachers will have access to the key/combination.

We anticipate a higher locker usage this year and request that everyone follow these guidelines for the lockers. We will often need to share lockers, so pick a partner. If locks are found on lockers that are not signed out, the lock will be cut off and the contents removed to the office.

Please help out by seeing Ms. Muffitt for locker assignments. Lunch or before school (7:00-7:30) is a good time to come sign up for a locker.
