There are lots of awards given out at our band breakfast
--
here are a list of the most basic. What will YOU
earn???

Responsibility Awards
Ideally EVERY student gets one of these awards!
Sixth Graders earn the "W" letter patch
Seventh Graders earn an instrument pin
Eighth Graders earn the Honor Band Member Mug
To earn this award, students must
- Attended all Concerts (or make-up done if excused
abs)
- Have a high B (85) average
- Have all requirements completed

Outstanding Band Member Award
There can be quite a few of these awards. Students
are
- Responsible
- Reliable
- Good Attitude
- Always able to play most of the parts
- Well prepared on exams, etc.
- Both exam grades 8 or better
- Respects others
- Attentive and professional in rehearsals
- Positive influence
- Goes above and beyond what is required
- Requirements completed by end of term when due (not
late)
- Some enrichment done
- Attend all concerts (or make up if excused abs)
- Excellent attendance at our rehearsals
- Enthusiastic
- Improving musician (not necessarily only the best players,
though)
- All of this is consistent throughout the year
- An "A" for each term (one "A-" OK)

Director's Award
A National Award being given in middle schools all over
the country, at WMS, this award goes to one (or two) eighth
grade band member(s) who has all qualities of the
Outstanding Band Members, to the utmost, and is
- Very Responsible
- Very Reliable
- Excellent Attitude
- Always able to play the parts
- A leader, not bossy -- attentive and professional in
rehearsals
- Positive influence - someone others look up to
- Kind and helpful to others -- respectful
- Encouraging to others
- Does not brag or look down on others
- Shows pride in self and our band
- Requirements completed
- Consistent throughout the three years (to the best of
my memory)
- Attends all concerts (or make up if excused abs)
- Excellent attendance at our rehearsals
- Enthusiastic
- Excellent musician
- A average for the year
- in short -- Someone I'd be proud to have represent
our band
- Over all three years!

An eighth grader who is a true jazz musician, and who
is:
- A Leader
- Enthusiastic -- Attentive and professional in
rehearsals
- Helpful & encouraging to others
- Reliable & Respectful
- Creative
- An Outstanding Performer
