BAND FEST 2012

This year's Townwide Band Fest is

in the Wayland HIGH SCHOOL Field House


If your family has a conflict that can not be avoided, PLEASE let me know right away!!!!  Thanks.

note WHEN YOU ARRIVE: Students should arrive by 6:45 PM, ready to play at 7:00, when we will rehearse our combined piece (Band-o-rama) and then begin the concert at 7:30.  (Middle school percussionists should arrive by 6:30 to help with percussion setup.  All HS students should arrive at 6:30.)

Signs will be posted to help you find where to go and where to put cases and coats.

"ASK ME" parents will be visible to answer your questions.

BE SURE YOUR NAME is on everything!!!!  There will be over 350 musicians there and some will have cases that look just like yours.  You may recognize that funny little mark on the side of the case so that you know it is your instrument, but someone else might think it is his and walk off with your instrument!  Put your name on your jacket, too.

note CONCERT ORDER: We will start with our first year players playing a few examples from their books, then after first year players will be the second year players, middle school Concert Band, middle school Symphonic Band, the high school Concert Band, the HS Wind Ensemble (each playing one piece), and then all of us will finish up together with Flourish . This is a wonderful showcase of our whole program!

note REMINDERS:

  • All students must bring a folding music stand - be sure your name is on all pieces of the stand! Black stands will not be available except for MS & HS percussion.  (If your name is on each part of the stand, we can return it to you if you leave it behind.

  • Wear your band's usual concert dress (MS - red band shirts with black pants, shirt tucked in or tied, look dressy!)

  • Report to the designated area in the field house between 6:45 & 7:00 (leave coats & cases in these areas), percussion arrive at 6:30.

  • Set up crew should report to the gym at 5:30

  • Everyone please plan on staying a few minutes afterwards for cleanup (high school and middle school percussionists stay until all equipment is packed up. Do not leave until you are dismissed-thanks!)

  • If you can, please drop a $5 donation into our donation drum to cover the cost of chairs.  Thanks!
