Workshops & Sectionals 2009-2010 

Schedule for March & April, 2010 

During term 3 students should come to three regular workshops (happening now) and should have come to two of our Special Workshops (if you came to more, it counts for enrichment!).

The playing requirements for term 3:

• Winds: one skill lick and two new scales
• Percussion: one drum skill lick, one mallet skill lick, one scale and a rudiment (do check the new rudiment guidelines).

The month of February (plus March 1) was filled with Special Workshop choices
March workshop weeks are:

• Grade 6 during the weeks of March 1, March 8 and March 22
• Grade 7/8 during the weeks of March 8, March 15 and March 22
• Makeups during the weeks of March 29 and April 5

Workshop schedules are in calendar format and are a pdf file.  Click on the link to download the current schedule.  Hardcopies are also available in the band room.

Term 4 Requirements:

NO gradeouts (!), but we will have workshops (3 for grade 6, and 2 for grades 7/8) and a second show-off exam time:

• The week of April 12: Grade 6 exam preparation workshop
• The week of April 19 no one needs to come (vacation week!)
• The week of April 26 is our concert week and we will have large group sectionals IF NEEDED. (SPRING CONCERT THURS, MAY 29)
• The week of May 3 Workshops - short exam prep, then Sousa study  (Tuesday, May 4, Marching Drumline sectional, 6:45 AM)
• The week of May 10 - finish Sousa  & exams begin (Get ready to show off for me!!)
• The week of May 17 - Sousa makeups and exams  (Wed. May 19 - full Marching Band rehearsal after school until 2:20)
• The week of May 24 - exams
• The week of May 31 - exams (Memorial Day Parade on May 31)  All exams must be completed by this week
• June 9 BAND AWARDS BREAKFAST! (Bring the family and celebrate the year with us!)
• June 1 to the end of the year, we still have rehearsals during flex; we will be working on our sight-reading skills! Come to four, (there are 5 or 6 scheduled), but everyone comes to the very last rehearsal.
